THE COOKER
     In every modern kitchen, you can find a cooker which is used for preparing food.
     Although people have been cooking for thousands of years, the cooker wasn’t
     widely used until the end of the 19th century.
     Before / By / Eventually  there were cookers, people cooked food on open fires.
     This was dangerous and dirty. Then / By / At last  the 16th century, inventors had
     begun to look for a safer way to cook food. Stone walls were built around the fire
     and it was covered with a metal plate. By the time / Finally / Then,  at the
     beginning of the 19th century, the British inventor Benjamin Thompson designed
     the first cooker. By / Eventually / Before,  in 1826, another Englishman, James
     Sharp, invented a gas cooker. This was not a big success until later in the century

     cooker was invented.
     With the development of gas lines and electricity, the use of gas and electric

     use a cooker that was clean, efficient and safe.
